New Children's Book-Catcoon

I am excited and pleased to announce that the book that Logan Bowers, my grandson, and I wrote together is now published and will be available on e-books and in book form. Catcoon, the name of the book is $10.00 and the e-book sales for $3.99. The author is L.H. Bowers for Logan Henry Bowers and it is illustrated by LORAC, aka Carol Welty Roper. Trafford Publishing Co. is handling the book and as soon as I get the author's copy to approve then you may order it. We are pleased to be invited on April 21 at 1:30 to 2:30 for a book signing at the University of Southern California campus for the LA Times Book Fair. I shall travel to Bakerfield where my daughter and her family live and Logan and I will attend the event along with everyone else who would like to come with us! So it is official.  The news is out and we hope that you, our readers, will enjoy the adventures of this little boy's fantasies in Catcoon.

Today I finished and submitted to the publisher my manuscript of the Children's Picture Book, CATCOON.  This is the story that my grandson, Logan, co-authored with me and I illustrated. My name is Lorac. It is the name I use as an illustrator or ghost writer. Christina, my youngest daughter, provided the technical assistance I needed to scan the pictures and do the layout for the picture book. So you see this is a family endevour.  I hope that Logan will be pleased with the outcome and that if at all possible it can be promoted for sales and my readers can see first hand why I have named my blog: timeless ink tales for both written and picture text.

January 7,2013 Now is the Time

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country. Do you remember learning that sentence in typing class? Well it was etched into my brain forever and now I know it is more than just something to type fast. This is a time that we must stand firm to all that is good and live it within our country so our family, friends and neighbors may live in liberty and away from fear. The news media bombards us with all kinds of fears thoughts and the threat of our personal liberties being removed. No one can take our kindnesses away from us, but they can try to scare them away. Scare us into thinking everyone is out to get us, like a boogy man is inside of every stranger. If there was ever a time for us to be guided by the Holy Spirit, Now is the Time.

Mind Games

I am working on exercising my body, mind and spirit and feeding my whole self with things that make it stronger, more attractive and indeed more useful. One of the things I am doing is a mind building program called Lumosity. It is a series of games that train your mind to look and react to stimuli to increase speed, accuracy, problem solving and memory. I almost forgot the last one. Ha!  I have been doing it all week and my scores are rapidly improving, which just goes to show that this old puppy can learn some new tricks. I encourage each of you, my dear friends, to turn off the TV and play more, love more, cook lovely meals and dine with your family in the comfort of your own home--more-- and see if this doesn't lower your stress levels and increase the quality of you life. I double dog dare you!!

Every Thursday evening a group of us get together and share a meal and then talk about topics of interest, the Sunday's sermon, pray for one another and our community and nation. It is a safe environment where we can risk being vulnerable and really bare our souls to what is going on in our personal lives as well as our spiritual growth. Henri Nouwen happens to be a favorite author of mine and he speaks about the need to have a community in which to grow up in God. My prayer for this community and for me personally and for Phil and my marriage is that we will grow this year in all ways so we may be more pleasing the God and man.

January 2, 2013 'Tis the Season to Start Anew:
Today was a very productive day getting things sorted for Income Tax time, PFD registration, Renewal of Automobile registration, thank you notes for Christmas presents, cleaning up and putting away Holiday decorations. Whoa! That and the distraction of our heat source going off, not getting a good night sleep and my husband having to go out of town when he just got home last night!! It seems this is the rule rather than the exception to the rule. Whenever a new habit is being birthed, old habits just don't want to die to make room for the new healthy ones. What do I do??? Well, first of all this has happened too many times for me not to recognize a pattern forming here. Part of change is to resist the temptation to bellyache about the distractions that seem to be sent to impede progress. It is just part of the change process. Today's victory was I dressed warmer, lite the fireplace, called the plummer, crawled back into bed and took a 2 hour nap. When I awoke I was rested, warmer and able to accomplish all the things on my TO DO List. I don't know what tomorrow will bring but TODAY I consider a good day and for that I give God the Glory.

Happy 2013

I am resolved to blog more. I am resolved to finish the old unfinished projects before I start on another crusade of other projects! Does this sound familiar? It is January 1, 2013 and I am filled with hope for the future. My prayer is my enthusiasm continues and I am not going to allow distractions to keep me from doing the things I desire to do. Prayer support would be appreciated. Thank you all. May you  live long and prosper. Talk to you tomorrow.
