Update on Chef Al's TV Cooking Program

On September 30th from 6:00 to 7:00am I will be featuring Stuffed Pork Chops with fresh applesauce on Chef Al's Cooking Show sponsored by Allen and Peterson and KTUU Channel 2 Early Morning program. I was able to feature one of the recipes found in my novel, Tilly's Song. It was also an opportunity to promote Anchorage German Club's annual Okoberfest at the Eagan Center on Oct.2nd and 3rd at 7:00 PM each evening. I will be there selling and signing my novel in the midst of merriment of food, music, dancing, and celebration. Alaska has experienced a beautiful autumn this year and now that winter is approaching, let's all get out there and enjoy harvest time, German-style. It has been said that in March everyone is a little Irish. Well, I'm here to tell you, in October, everyone is a little German. Here are a few phrases that might help you during Oktoberfest: Spricht heir jemand Englisch? In English: (Does anyone speak English?) Prost! (Cheers), Danke (Thanks), Bitte (You are welcome), gut (good), guten tag (how do you do), sauerkraut (white cabbage, finely chopped and pickled), wurst (sausage), brot(bread), bier(beer), auf Wiedersehen (goodbye). That should help you get through the basics of the festival. GUTE NACHT (Good Night)
