Hello from Sunny and Hot Bakersfield, CA. Russo's Books is one of the best book stores I have ever been in and it is Jenny's, my daughter's favorite. Her boys love it because it has everything from great book's (of course) to wonderful gifts and hands on displays. They are featuring Tilly's Song on Sunday, Noon to 2PM where I can sell and sign the novel. As part of the promotion, I have post cards with the book cover on one side and a recipe for orange cookies on the other side, featuring not only one of the recipes from the novel but also Bakersfield delicious fresh oranges. After the signing we are all going to Que Pasa's, the best Mexican Restaurant in Bakersfield for a celebration. Que Pasa Restaurant helped me advertise the signing at Russo's Books, for which I am grateful.
More news!!! Tuesday, July 7th, my Nana's birthday, I will be speaking for a group of ladies at Jennifer Bower's home in Bakersfield. The topic is:What Made Up the Story Behind the Story. There will be food offered as refreshments taken from the recipes listed in the novel, and another sampling of orange cookies. This is one of my favorite ways to use Bakersfield's best California oranges.
California is the kick off to my summer book promotion. My next stop will be in Oklahoma. I will be in Okla. City, Midwest City, Edmond, and Duncan during the first week in August. I am working on a date when I will be speaking at Rose College and also doing book signings in the other cities as well. Then I am off to Omaha, NE, for a book club speaking engagement and book signing.
Comments are coming in from those who have finished reading Tilly's Song. By far the most common comments are:"Wonderful story"," I am able to invest in the characters which keeps me reading to find out what happens next", and " I can't wait for the next book!" Thanks everyone for your encouragement. While I am traveling I am working to complete book two, For Richer or Poorer; I Take Thee Marie.
I welcome your comments. My desire is to grow as an author and I am sensitive to what my readers think and feel.
